SRV German School Maifest 2013
WHERE & WHEN:
Our annual Maifest will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00am
in the beer garden of the Handles Gastropub,
855 Main Street, Pleasanton, CA.
School hours are from 10:00am-11:00am that day
for final practice of the student’s performances.
Maifest is an important tradition in German Speaking Cultures that reflect the end of winter and the arrival of warmer days. In Austria and many parts of Germany, especially in Bavaria, the tradition of raising a Maypole (Maibaum) in a town's public square on May 1 serves to welcome spring since ancient times. We will celebrate our Maifest in a beer garden with the traditional Bier und Wurst and German music to give our students an impression of how May customs are celebrated.
Watch the spring themed student performances, listen to live German music,
enjoy traditional Bier und Wurst, browse our little Maifest Market and more!
The event is open to the public to keep building our school community – so bring your families and friends!
